Aquatics Programs
Masters Swim ProgramThe Lincoln Downtown YMCA is proud to bring you a top-notch Masters Swimming and Fitness Program. Coached by Gary Bredehoft, CSCS a certified Level II USAT Triathlon Coach and US Masters Swimming Member, this swim fitness program is for individuals age 18 and older who enjoy swimming in a structured program. The program benefits those who swim for fun and fitness, and those who swim for competition in swimming or triathlon.Swim LessonsSwim lessons are a great way to get children from as young as 3 years old all the way into adulthood comfortable in the water. Watch as their skill level increases as they graduate from each class. Classes have a low children to instructor ratio to ensure adequate personal attention between the child and the instructor. Private swim lessons are also available.Private Swim LessonsThese lessons are 30 minutes long and include one on one instruction with an experienced instructor. Lessons are available for youth and adults of all abilities. Convenient times are available. Please return this registration form with payment to our Service Center Desk. An instructor will be in touch with you to schedule the first lesson.Group ExerciseAll fitness classes are FREE to members!Group Water Reduce stress on joints by getting in the water. Choose between shallow, deep, combo, and walking classes to keep your workouts fun and invigorating. Water classes are great for rehabilitation and for cross training. Sport Swimming and Stroke RefinementThis class is designed for capable swimmers that would like to improve their performance for triathlon swimming ordistance/fitness swimming. The instructor will critique strokes and offer tips and advice to improve performance in swimming. Long distance/open water swimming tips will be included. Class Components: • Improve endurance skills primarily in front crawl, but other strokes will be included • Improve open turns and flip turns • Video stroke analysis • Demonstrate etiquette in lap swimming • Use a pace clock • Use swim training equipment • Learn principles of setting up a swimming fitness program • Learn and demonstrate training techniques • Calculate target heart rate Requirements: • Must be able to tread water for 5 minutes • Must be able to swim a minimum of 50 yards Contact Karla at (402) 434-9238 or khudson@ymcalincoln.org for more information. |
