Before School Program

The before school program at Elliott Elementary School was created to improve student learning and development through academic support, physical fitness, character development, and enrichment activities. Students receive a nutritious breakfast and participate in a school-supported reading program.

Academics
The before school program is a literacy rich environment where students participate in a variety of reading activities such as dialogic reading, reading theater, guided reading and other pro-literacy activities. This year our program is supported by a grant from First Book that will provide each participant with books they can take home. Our expected outcome is that our students increase their reading skills and abilities.

Character Development
The YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility are taught with the expectation that all of our children be positive and contributing citizens.

Eligibility
Open only to students enrolled at Elliott Elementary School, who have completed the Elliott Community Learning Center enrollment form.

Program Meets
Every day school is in session from 8:00 a.m. - 8:50 a.m.

Fees
FREE!

After School Clubs

The after school program at Elliott Elementary School was created to improve student learning and development through academic support, physical fitness, character development, and enrichment activities. Students receive a nutritious snack, engage in an academic support program and participate in a wide variety of enrichment clubs designed to provide a wealth of experiences.

Academics
Time is set aside each day for students to work on a school endorsed spelling, handwriting, and reading support program developed for Elliott students to help their skill development. The academic components are fully integrated with Elliott Elementary School's support programs with the expected outcome is that students increase reading skills and abilities.

Fitness
Participants are provided opportunities to explore various recreational sports (soccer, basketball, running, volleyball, etc.), and taught healthy lifestyles, including nutrition and preventive lessons regarding the hazards of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. Research indicates that healthy kids perform better academically and are less likely to experiment with drugs and alcohol. Our expected outcome is that our students will lead healthy and productive lives.

Character Development
The YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility are taught with the expectation that all of our children be positive and contributing citizens.

Enrichment Activities
Participants are presented opportunities to experience a full range of activities such as arts, computers, creative thinking, language, music, science, sports, theater and more. We believe that we should not set limits on child's imagination and will continue to seek opportunities to help broaden our students' perspective on their own potential. Our expected outcome is that participants will be open to try new experiences and become achievers in life.

Eligibility
Open only to students enrolled at Elliott Elementary School, who have completed the Elliott Community Learning Center enrollment form.

Program Meets
