Before School ProgramThe before school program at Elliott Elementary School was created to improve student learning and development through academic support, physical fitness, character development, and enrichment activities. Students receive a nutritious breakfast and participate in a school-supported reading program.Academics The before school program is a literacy rich environment where students participate in a variety of reading activities such as dialogic reading, reading theater, guided reading and other pro-literacy activities. This year our program is supported by a grant from First Book that will provide each participant with books they can take home. Our expected outcome is that our students increase their reading skills and abilities. Character Development The YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility are taught with the expectation that all of our children be positive and contributing citizens. Eligibility Open only to students enrolled at Elliott Elementary School, who have completed the Elliott Community Learning Center enrollment form. Program Meets Every day school is in session from 8:00 a.m. - 8:50 a.m. Fees FREE! After School ClubsThe after school program at Elliott Elementary School was created to improve student learning and development through academic support, physical fitness, character development, and enrichment activities. Students receive a nutritious snack, engage in an academic support program and participate in a wide variety of enrichment clubs designed to provide a wealth of experiences.Academics Time is set aside each day for students to work on a school endorsed spelling, handwriting, and reading support program developed for Elliott students to help their skill development. The academic components are fully integrated with Elliott Elementary School's support programs with the expected outcome is that students increase reading skills and abilities. Fitness Participants are provided opportunities to explore various recreational sports (soccer, basketball, running, volleyball, etc.), and taught healthy lifestyles, including nutrition and preventive lessons regarding the hazards of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. Research indicates that healthy kids perform better academically and are less likely to experiment with drugs and alcohol. Our expected outcome is that our students will lead healthy and productive lives. Character Development The YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility are taught with the expectation that all of our children be positive and contributing citizens. Enrichment Activities Participants are presented opportunities to experience a full range of activities such as arts, computers, creative thinking, language, music, science, sports, theater and more. We believe that we should not set limits on child's imagination and will continue to seek opportunities to help broaden our students' perspective on their own potential. Our expected outcome is that participants will be open to try new experiences and become achievers in life. Eligibility Open only to students enrolled at Elliott Elementary School, who have completed the Elliott Community Learning Center enrollment form. Program Meets Every day school is in session from 3:38 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Fees FREE! Summer Adventure Day CampThe summer program consists of two 3-week sessions, incorporating academic, fitness, character development and enrichment activities.Past program offerings have included Arts Camp, Music Camp, Sports Camp and Outdoor Adventures Camp; all camps spend afternoons swimming, playing Frisbee, biking and engaging in other fun summertime activities. Eligibility Students who are entering grades 1-5, are enrolled at Elliott Elementary School, and have completed the Elliott CLC Enrollment Form (below), are eligible to participate. Program Meets Session 1: Monday through Friday in June Session 2: Monday through Friday in July Fees FREE. Breakfast, lunch, and snack provided. (Suggested donation of $100 per week.) School Neighborhood Advisory Committee (SNAC)What is SNAC?The Elliott School / Elliott Community Learning Center School Neighborhood Advisory Committee is a group of parents, families, school staff, and community members who have joined together to support our school and community. We plan activities & events, raise money for special projects, discuss topics of interest, organize around issues important to our community, and enjoy the spirit of working together.
