Jr. Huskers Summer Recreational Softball League

League Description

Recreational Softball offers low pressure development opportunities in an nine-week season with one practice and one game per week. Volunteer coaches will use modified rules for younger grade levels and teams will be based on school, grade, and previous team participation.

Ages

Players currently in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. When registering for Summer baseball and softball leagues, please register your child for their grade in school in the 2024-25 school year. 

Registration Information

Registration for the Summer YMCA Jr. Huskers Recreational Softball League will be available after February 1.

 

 

Game Days

A 9 game season be in the May, June and July. Projected game days are listed below and an exact schedule will be posted in the middle of May.


Kindergarten: One hour T-ball game on Saturday morning or afternoon/Sunday afternoon.

1st Grade: One hour Coach Pitch game on Saturday morning or afternoon/Sunday afternoon.

2nd Grade: One hour Coach Pitch game on Saturday morning or afternoon/Monday after 5:30pm.

3rd Grade: One hour and 20 minute Player Pitch / Coach Pitch game on Tuesday after 5:30pm/Thursday after 5:30pm.

4th Grade: One hour and 20 minute Player Pitch game on Tuesday after 5:30pm/Thursday after 5:30pm.

5th and 6th Grade: One hour and 20 minute Player Pitch game on Tuesday after 5:30pm/Thursday after 5:30pm.

7th and 8th Grades: One hour and 20 minute Player Pitch game on Monday after 5:30pm/Tuesday after 5:30pm.

Uniforms

Teams are required to wear the Jr. Huskers Recreational Softball jersey and hat that is included in the registration fee.

Other Equipment

Participants will be required to provide their own glove. Players may wear tennis/turf shoes/softball cleats (no metal spikes allowed). Jewelry is not allowed to be worn during YMCA Youth Sports activities. This includes earrings (earrings cannot be taped). No hard casts/splints are allowed during matches/games.

It is highly recommended that for the 2025 season that participants provide their own batting helmet and bat.
