The Grand Island Lightning will be hosting the Tip-Off Classic on Thanksgiving weekend November 29th and 30th. Teams are guaranteed four games over the two days.All games will be played at Grand Island Senior High. Divisions for Boys and Girls are 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, and 7th-8th. The Grand Island YMCA will be hosting the 8th Annual Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament on December 6th and 7th. Each team is guaranteed 3 games. 10th Annual Mr. Basketball & Miss Basketball Hoopfest
The 10th Annual Mr. Basketball & Miss Basketball Hoopfest in Ravenna & Cairo, Neb., is January 17-18. The Hoopfest will feature 64 teams and is open to 4th thru 8th grade boys & girls teams. Boys typically play on two full-size courts at Ravenna High School and the girls play on two full-size courts at Centura High School in Cairo (25 miles NW of Grand Island). The Osceola Masonic Lodge will be hosting a Basketball Tournament on January 17th and 18th, 2009 . The tournament will follow a round-robin format with each team guaranteed three games and a maxinum of 24 teams total. Medals will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place finishers. The Grand Island Lightning will be hosting this new youth tournament that will coincide with the High School Heartland Hoops Classic at the Grand Island Events Center on February 14th and 15th. 192 teams from five states will compete in the 15th Annual Midway Snow Jam in Kearney, Neb., on February 21-22. The tourney is open to 4th thru 8th grade boys & girls teams, with multiple brackets in almost all divisions. All courts have digital scoreboards and experienced officials. Game sites include the 6,500-seat UNK Health & Sports Center. The registration deadline is January 21. We schedule Omaha/Lincoln area teams so they have late arrival on Saturday and only need motel rooms on one night.
