Q What is Spirit Volleyball?
A It is a more competitive league designed for the serious volleyball player. Teams may practice more than once per week and play more games in a season.
Q What is the objective of the Spirit Volleyball league?
A The YMCA Spirit volleyball league provides an opportunity for players/teams to work on individual fundamentals, team principles, sportsmanship, and to have fun in a competitive setting.
Q What grade level is Spirit Volleyball offered for?
A In the fall, the Spirit Volleyball league is offered for children in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade. In the spring, the Spirit Volleyball league is offered for children in 5th and 6th grade.
Q How are teams formed for Spirit Volleyball?
A Spirit teams are based on a coach-select system. There are no tryouts, but coaches are able to form their own teams.
Q What if my child is looking for a team to join?
A Individual registrations are encouraged, and YMCA Youth Sports Staff work hard to match individual players with teams that need additional players.
Q What is the playing requirement for Spirit Volleyball?
A This league is not designed for everyone. Every player must play 1 full game. Equal playing time amongst team members is not required. Recommended but not required.
